The ability to adhere to target tissues is very important for probiotics, as this allows them to exercise their metabolic effects in the area of interest by carrying out their proper functions.

In particular...

Models of intestinal mucosa, such as mucus and enterocyte producing lines, organoids and models using 3D cellular skin inserts are available for pre-clinical evaluation of the adhesiveness of different bacteria and its reflection on host's metabolism. Due to the importance recognized to this feature, we have also accredited this method according to ISO 17025 standard.

  • In vitro intestinal cell model preparation and revitalization of the probiotic microorganism;
  • Co-incubation between intestinal cells and probiotic;
  • Recovery of bacteria attached to the cell line and percentage assessment of the adhesion of the probiotic.
